Spotty Sock Monkey

Well... having seen and fallen in love with these guys on a business page where some lady was selling them onFacebook... I decided I needed one each for my boys and for a mindee who is monkey mad and leaving in a few weeks.... due to the popularity of them I was never quick enough to buy one - no sooner do they get posted they are sold i.e 27 going in under 2 mins!!!!
So I went off to Asda last might on a sock hunt and I decided to hunt down a pattern on t'internet and make my own...

Easy peasy lemon squeezy later and here she is..... Well actually this is the 2nd one I made ( haven't pictured the first one yet - this one was taken tonight as its going to be a pressie tomorrow!)
I even managed to find some scraps of fleece from a no-sew poncho I made for my friends daughter at Christmas time to make a fluffy hat!!!
My boys have fallen in love with them too, they were gutted this one was being given away so I now have a list and have bought a book with patterns to make other animals and creatures...
How exciting!!
So watch this space for more sock creatures as time goes on and the boys make their demands x

In the absence of any new stuff....... The nappy stacker

Another item made for my sister's new addition... Again using remnants and an old cereal box to fit out the base lol.....
The pattern showed one layer for the flap at the front but I chose to back it so it looked a bit nicer when opened... As I was running out of the animal print I chose to co-ordinate with the cot tidy and cushion and use that flaggy material for the base and inside the flap.... Another quick make which only took about an hr and half..... after precutting the pieces of course!

And the answer?????

I did neither!!! Too tired - sat and watched a film instead lol......

hmmmmmm Ironing or sewing???? that is the question!

Can't decide.... I'm in the mood for a bit of sewing today and thought I might do something new after the boys go to bed but have a mountain of ironing to do......

Question is do I say sod the ironing and sew something nice or do I hope I'm still in the mood to sew tomorrow ?!?!?!?

hmmmmmm.........

My 1st attempt at a bag charm and matching phone charm

Another present - This time for my niece....

My 1st attempt of making a bag charm which was great fun - I really enjoyed making this one and also the matching phone charm... I think the phone charm was harder to make as I had been so used to the larger scale of the bag charm lol...... I used a collection of different glass beads all chosen with my nieces personality in mind

A collection of applique and patchwork cushions

Applique and patchwork cushions - All made as gifts..
I used curtain scraps for the centre pannels and machine appliqued cut outs from the main material then used strips to patchwork the main cushion... The backs of the cushions are envelope openings..
The Football cushion also has some buttons and iron on transfers on the center pannel as well as the applique design...

I made this shopping bag as a present for my Sister.... As you can see its reversible so u can reverse it to suit your mood or your shopping load lol.....

The circle fabric was a remnant bought for about £2

The denim is an old pair of ripped jeans I had in the cupboard so was free!
Basically its a t-shirt bag but made from scraps.....

Cot tidy I made for my sister for her new baby boy in September... I used remnants to make this one... It has 4 small pockets across the top and then another four bigger ones along the bottom... You attach it to the cot with the tabs on the top and sides which button in place...
Added the side buttons as the elastic in the centre pockets made the tidy bunch up and I cldn't see how else I cld fix the problem....
Didn't take very long to make - only about 2 evenings... most of the time was cutting out the fabric x

One of my first makes

Ok here goes...

This is one of my 1st makes.... Last yr I did a decorative crafts course and my project was to make a baby carrier... This is a Mei Tei style carrier adapted slightly with wrap style straps... I looked at a few patterns online before deciding on my design and combined 3 different patterns to come up with this...

Its made out of a pair of twill curtains and has 3 layerswith a photo frame on the one side so you can pop different patterened panels into it and change the look of the carrier..... or u can reverse it and wear it plain cream....

The panel in this picture is a reverse stencil of a mouse which I then embroidered and decorated with some buttons and sequins....

Works really well too - I use the carrier to transport both my youngest children (one at a time of course) It provides excellent support, no strain on your back at all and I can carry the boys for hours - impressive as they are 3yrs and 16 mnths

Oh 'eck.... here goes

First ever BLOG!!! Good luck and hope I dont bore people too much lol..... Not sure what it's gonna be used for probably all my makes but lets see.....
